Amy Lynn Hartzler was born December 13, 1981 to parents John Lee, a disc jockey and TV personality, and Sara Cargill. She has a brother named Robby and two sisters, Carrie and Lori. Amy had a younger sister who died in 1987 at the age of three from an unidentified illness. The song "Hello" from Fallen has been reported to have been written for her late sister, as well as the song "Like You" from The Open Door. Amy took classical piano lessons for nine years. Her family moved to many places, including Florida and Illinois, and eventually settled in Little Rock, Arkansas, where Evanescence started. She briefly attended Middle Tennessee State University to study music theory and composition and later dropped out to focus on Evanescence.

Along with her contributions to Evanescence, Amy has also participated on numerous other musical projects including Walt Disney Records' Nightmare Revisited and Muppets The Green Album. Lee has performed collaborations with artists such as Korn, Seether, and David Hodges. Amy is also the American chairperson for the international epilepsy awareness foundation, Out of the Shadows. 2. Avril Lavigne
Most successful artists in the world.

Avril Ramona Lavigne was born September 27 1984 in Belleville; Ontario. Her father, Jean-Claude Joseph Lavigne, named her "Avril" after the French word for the month of April. At the age of two, she began singing church songs with her mother, Judith-Rosanne "Judy" (née Loshaw). Judy recognized her two-year-old daughter's talents after hearing her sing "Jesus Loves Me" in church. Avril has an older brother, Matthew, and a younger sister, Michelle, both of whom teased her when she sang. "My brother used to knock on the wall because I used to sing myself to sleep and he thought it was really annoying." Her father is of French descent and her mother has English, Scottish, and German ancestry

In July 2006, Avril married her boyfriend of two years, Deryck Whibley, lead singer and guitarist for Sum 41. The marriage lasted a little over three years, and in October 2009, Avril filed for divorce. Whibley and Avril continued to work together, with Whibley producing her fourth album, as well as Avril's single, "Alice", written for Tim Burton's film Alice in Wonderland. Avril married Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger, in 2013.

3. Lita Ford
An American rock guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter for The Runaways

Lita Rossana Ford was born September 23, 1958 to a British father and an Italian mother in London, England. At the age of four she moved with her family to the United States, eventually settling in the Los Angeles area by the time she was in the second grade. Inspired by Ritchie Blackmore's work with Deep Purple, she began playing the guitar at the age of 11. Her vocal range is mezzo-soprano.
In 1975, at the age of 16, Lita was recruited by recording impresario Kim Fowley to join the all-female rock band he was assembling called The Runaways. The band soon secured a recording contract and released their first album in 1976.

Following the breakup of The Runaways, Lita set about launching a solo career. Her debut solo album, entitled Out for Blood, was released in 1983 and was a commercial disappointment. Her next release, 1984's Dancin' on the Edge achieved moderate success and Ford's popularity began to rise, due largely to her sex appeal with the largely male heavy metal audience.

In 2010, a major Hollywood motion picture chronicling the career of Lita's first band, The Runaways, was produced. Ford was portrayed by actress Scout Taylor-Compton in the movie, entitled The Runaways.

In 2013, she became guest appearance on Geoff Tate's version of Queensrÿche's Frequency Unknown

4. Joan Jett
Founding member of The Runaways and best known for her work with Joan Jett & the Blackhearts.

Joan Marie Larkin was born September 22, 1958 at Lankenau Hospital in Wynnewood, a suburb of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She moved to Rockville, Maryland, in 1967 where she attended Randolph Junior High and Wheaton High School. Joan got her first guitar at the age of 14. She took some guitar lessons, but quit soon after when the instructor kept trying to teach her folk songs. She also became involved with a bartender at a club from the town, at which point her family moved to West Covina, California, in Los Angeles County, providing Jett the opportunity to pursue her musical endeavors.

Joan became a founding member of The Runaways, alongside drummer Sandy West. Jackie Fox, Lita Ford, and Cherie Currie completed the line-up.

In 1979, Jett was in England pursuing a solo career. She recorded three songs there with Sex Pistols' Paul Cook and Steve Jones, one of which was an early version of Arrows' "I Love Rock 'n' Roll". This version appears on the 1993 compilation album Flashback.

With Laguna's assistance, Jett formed the Blackhearts. Joan Jett and the Blackhearts recorded their hit album. The new single was a re-recording of the title track, "I Love Rock 'n' Roll" originally written and recorded by Arrows, which in the first half of 1982 was number one on the Billboard Hot 100 for seven weeks in a row. It is Billboard’s No. 56 song of all time.

In October 2012, Joan Jett & the Blackhearts were re-nominated for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for 2013.

5. Nancy Wilson
A guitarist, songwriter, composer, singer, actress and producer of the rock band Heart.

Nancy Wilson was born in San Francisco, California. She is the youngest of three sisters (Lynn, Ann and Nancy), who grew up in Southern California and Taiwan before their US Marine Corps father retired to the Seattle suburb of Bellevue.

On February 9, 1964, when Nancy and Ann watched the Beatles perform on The Ed Sullivan Show, she and her sister instantly wanted to be like the band. Two of Nancy's friends who could sing joined Nancy and Ann to form their first music group. Calling themselves the Viewpoints, they were a four-part harmony vocal group. Later that year, Ann bought her first guitar, a Kent acoustic, with money given to her by her grandmother. Nancy's parents soon bought her a smaller guitar, but since it would not stay in tune, Ann's guitar became Nancy's too.

In 2011, Nancy began seeing Geoff Bywater who worked in music production on television shows for Fox. They were engaged in 2012 and married April 28, 2012.

Nancy and Ann released another studio album, Fanatic in October 2012; it debuted at number 24 on Billboard 200, and hit number 10 on Billboard's Rock Album chart.

On December 11, 2012 it was announced that Heart would be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2013, along with Rush, Albert King, Randy Newman, Donna Summer, Public Enemy, Quincy Jones, and Lou Adler.
