Mia Khalifa, The 21-year-old is well-educated and flourishing in her area of expertise, and she has legions of fans who support her. And on paper, Mia Khalifa is in a position to assume the role of Lebanon's cultural ambassador. There's only just a big one problem. She's an adult star.
Khalifa, born February 10, 1993 in Beirut, Lebanon and moved with her family to the United States in 2000. There's she moved to Montgomery County, Maryland as a teenager and a few years later graduated from the University of Texas at El Paso with a Bachelor of Arts degree in history.
In October 2014, Khalifa entered the adult film industry. She'd been working at a local fast food restaurant when she was approached by a customer and asked if she ever wanted to be in p***ography.
Then on December 28 in the same year, P***hub revealed that she was the #1 ranked adult performer on their website.
According to data received from P***hub, from January 3 to January 6, 2015, searches for Mia Khalifa increased five-fold. Around a quarter of those searches came from Lebanon, with substantial searches also from nearby Arab states of Syria and Jordan.
With 83,000 Twitter followers, over 7,000 Facebook likes and nearly 84,000 Instagram followers, it's safe to say that the petite brunette — whose measurements come in at 34DD-26-40 — has officially made a name for herself.
But her native Lebanon isn't pleased. Despite her loyal following, Khalifa also has an equally vocal band of critics, including her own family.
She describe to Newsweek that her parents as "extremely strict, overbearing and very conservative" were deeply upset by her choice to work as a adult performer. "There's no one in my family is speaking to me," she said. "Everybody from my second cousins to family friends to my parents' friends know ... it's not something that's going to be forgiven."
